My novel that I chose, or actually was suggested, is There's Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perki. Makani, the main character actually remind me of myself. The big thing that hit me that was similar is how she keeps chasing this guy either as a friend or more when he does not seem to give her the same enthusiasm. "'Why are you here?' he asked. 'You haven't spoken to me all semester.' It made her angry. Instantly. 'I could say the same about you. And I said what I wanted to say. About our classmates. Being idiots and all.' 'Yeah.' His posture stiffened. 'You did say that.'" He was being bullied and she came to help him out. When she tries to make him feel better he just sits there and asks her what she is doing here as if she shouldn't be there. I was always there for this person, which at the time was my best friend, and I could tell she was going through things but she started cutting me out of her life. She ended up never being there for me when I was always there for her. So in this sense I think me and Mekani have a hard time letting people go that made an impact on our life even if they are no longer making a positive impact on our life.

Yet again, well said! I just saw Yadhira read this book, and while I don't know the whole story, I know bits and pieces.
